Xtreme DanceWorks is a unique performing arts academy in Windsor, ON offering a variety of classes in dance, drama, vocal, music and speciality programs such as Triple Threat, Pop Stars and more.
We are proud to be the home of the International Ballet Theatre - Windsor's only pre-professional training program for the serious dancer, as well as the Xtreme Competitive Dance Team.

Our Facility
Our facility boasts almost 4000 sq. ft. of gorgeous "New York loft"-style space with 2 spacious dance studios, cozy lobby, changeroom, recently renovated student lounge, drama room and music room. Our entire facility was renovated in 2010 and the student lounge just before 2011. Wifi is available to our customers. Come for a tour today!
Brynn Girard, CCA - Director
Faculty
Brynn is a certified teacher and a member of the Cecchetti Council of America. She has been dancing all her life and has always had a strong passion for the arts. She has extensive dance training and teaching experience to ensure the highest quality of dance training for her students.
Aside from training locally, Brynn also trained in Walkerville's arts program, participated in workshops in the U.S., trained in Ottawa and had the exciting opportunity to study under the World Tap Champion of 2001, Darin Kyle. This was truly a fantastic experience!
Aside from dance, Brynn has been playing the piano and writing music ever since she was little. She also models and has been signed by Orange Model Management in Toronto and is now currently signed with Exclusive Models in London.
In 2005 Brynn graduated with honours from the International Academy of Design & Technology / Toronto Film School with her diploma in Entertainment Business Management. During her time in Toronto she had the opportunity to work with several prominent artists and music industry professionals.
Xtreme DanceWorks is Brynn's dream come true and she is thrilled to share her love of the arts with others!
Cassiah Pegg - Drama & Dance Instructor
Cassiah has been a successful performer/dancer since the age of 2, competing internationally in Beauty Pageants and Talent Shows across the country. She has won such titles as Little Miss Canada, Miss Cover Girl, Gingerbread's Miss Shining Star and International Royalty. At the age of 13, Cassiah underwent a teaching apprenticeship training program and began teaching dance. She has excelled as a competitive dancer, choreographer and teacher with her strengths highlighted in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern/ Contemporary, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Hip-Hop. Cassiah is also a choreographer/ assistant manager for DancesToGo.com and has choreographed many competitive level routines across Ontario.
Cassiah has a BA Honors degree in Drama and Communications, Media and Film, and she is currently studying towards her Bachelor of Education in the junior/intermediate section at the University of Windsor while choreographing, teaching and dancing on the side. Cassiah has been a teacher's assistant for many drama courses at the University of Windsor, as well as starred in many musicals and film productions. Cassiah is signed with one of the top acting agencies in Toronto and has had extensive training in many dramatic arts classes.
Cassiah`s passion for the performing arts can be seen through her teaching techniques, unique choreography/ideas, as well as her positive and energentic attitude.

Mike Foster - Dance Instructor
Mike is a tough and meticulous teacher, making sure the whole class has mastered one step before moving on to the next. He expects his students to challenge themselves, to be the best they can be... hoping that his love of dance will be passed on to them. He especially likes it when his students finally get the "I got it" look in their eyes and go on to be the stars of the class.
Mike appeared in The Afters' music video "Never Going Back to OK," dancing in the streets of Windsor. He has also done some modeling, walking the runway for various charities around the city.
Mike's credentials include being an internationally certified Zumba instructor, an internationally certified aqua fitness instructor and is also a judge for Dancing with the Local Stars at Caesar's Windsor... a joy he has done for 2 years, working with many local dance professionals and celebrities from the area.
Mike is very excited to be on the faculty of Xtreme DanceWorks!
Erin Armstrong - Vocal Instructor
Lyric soprano, Erin Armstrong has been performing for audiences since she was three. She is an artist who is not afraid to show you her soul and has been described as, "...convincing, sensitive and poignant... [her] voice had clarity, warmth and passion, all well controlled to pace the creation of the character..." Opera Canada (Winter 2009).
Not only does Erin hold two degrees in music, but this season Erin will be touring Southern Ontario with La Pazza Diva Productions in a Duelling Divas concert tour as well as performing Giulietta with Calgary Concert Opera's production of I Capuleti e Montecchi. She recently emerged as one of Calgary Opera's Emerging Artists appearing as Fiordiligi in the Ensemble production of Mozarts, Cosi fan tutte, High Priestess in Aida by Verdi and as Fan Woman in the world premiere of The Inventor, by Bramwell Tovey.
Erins credits include Beth in Mark Adamos Little Women, Juliet in Gounods Romeo et Juliette, Angelica in Puccinis Suor Angelica, Alice Ford in Verdis Falstaff, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, and Donna Anna from Mozarts Don Giovanni.

Jennifer Morin - Piano Instructor
Jen is a University of Windsor student in her fourth year. She will be attaining her Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in voice in April 2012 before heading to teacher's college the following September.
Jen began playing the piano at age 5 and achieved her Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 8 in piano in 2007 as well as her Grade 2 Rudiments. She also has 7 years of formal vocal instruction under her belt and enjoys playing guitar in her spare time.
Music has always been a huge part of her life, her first love being musical theatre.
At age 11, Jen performed in her first musical production with Little Tomato Theatre in Leamington called "Summer on Broadway," in which she sang the duet "Suddenly Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors. This was the first production of many to follow. Jen has been involved in many musicals over the years and she plans on continuing to participate in community theatre in the future.
In May 2011, Jen had the wonderful opportunity of presenting "Peter Pan" at the Capitol Theatre in Windsor, for which she was the musical director.
Jen has a wide variety of musical taste and enjoys singing, playing, and teaching all styles of music to students of all ages ranging from Classical Opera to Top 40 Hits! Teaching is her passion and music is the greatest joy in her life. She is thrilled to be a part of Xtreme DanceWorks Performing Arts Academy!
Lisa Pype - Dance Instructor
Lisa started her ballet training at the early age of 4, dancing most of her life with most of the renowned dance instructors in the Dominican Republic. She recieved her classical ballet certificate at the Cento de La Cultura de Santiago at the age of eighteen (Vaganova training) under the direction of the great teacher Armando Villamil.
At the age of twenty-two, the Ballet Certificate at the Instituto de Cultura y Arte ICA (cuban school of ballet) she has held the positions of Artistic Director and Ballet Director as well as Dance Instructor and Choreographer with the ICA where she organized festivals, instructed ballet classes and taught dance history.
Lisa has training with a number of dance forms which include ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern (Graham/Limon), flamenco, latin dances, afro and contemporary.
Lisa was principal dancer of the Pasos Ballet de Santiago and Ballet Teatro de Santiago, participated in many international events and ballet congresses, winning the first place in choreography in the 8th Festival International Juvenil in 2000.

Xtreme Competitive Dance Team
The competitive program is for the serious dancer. Students must be enrolled in ballet, tap and jazz classes at the recreational level and will take additional competitive level technique classes plus rehearsals.
The commitment for both the dancer and parent is extensive. Not only will the dancer train approximately 8-10 hours per week, but they will also attend a minimum of 3 regional competitions and at least one national competition.
International Ballet Theatre
The International Ballet Theatre is for the serious ballet dancer who wishes to take their ballet training to a new level and prepare for a future in dance. All company dancers will perform in our annual spring ballet production.
Entry into IBT is by audition only.
IBT may assist international students in finding local schooling and housing upon acceptance into the company.
Commitment
The time commitment varies depending on the level from 5 to 19 hours per week of classes. To enter the graded system, students must be at least 8 years old.

Chris Barrette - Music Instructor
Chris has over a decade of experience teaching and playing professionally in the city and abroad. His passion for music and the arts runs generations deep and his mission is to share that passion with everyone who wishes to enjoy it.
Chris specializes in guitar, bass and vocal instruction, having taught both professionally and privately with individuals and groups for over 10 years. He is also up to date on live and studio recording techniques, having learned to use this as a valuable teaching and rewarding process.
Chris has also has many successful original song writing and band credits in and out of the studio, including shows in Michigan, Toronto and Vancouver. He has shared the stage with many great national recording artists and has continuing air play on Windsor's local radio stations.
Chris' passion, appreciation, and devotion to the arts is clear from the moment you meet him and he is very excited to be a part of Xtreme DanceWorks!
Ted Robert - Music Instructor
Since the young age of 10, Ted has been playing and performing in almost all genres of music. 20 years later, Ted is a master percussionist. Developing stick and hand technique through jazz and classical and advanced footwork through rock and metal, Ted is one of windsors "go-to" drummers.
Ted is also skilled in guitar, bass and vocals along with many years of experience in the studio doing session work for others and his own solo project in which he writes and performs everything himself.
Always focused and positive, Ted brings a "yes you can" attitude everywhere he goes and enjoys living his dream of showing others how to achieve theirs. Ted is excited to be a part of Xtreme DanceWorks!

Our Rising Stars program is for our youngest dancers ages 2-5. In Rising Stars I our two year olds will explore creative movement and our three year olds will learn the beginning movements of ballet and tap and learn to love music and dance! In Rising Stars II our four and five year olds continue their early training and have the choice to take the following classes: Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz, Tap/Jazz and Pre-Hip Hop.
Ballet is the foundation of dance and encompasses poise, strength, technique and grace. Our ballet classes follow the well-respected Cecchetti syllabus. Students are encouraged to take at least two ballet classes per week to enhance their training.
Pointe classes are for the serious ballet student and require completion of pre-Pointe prior to being placed in a Pointe class. Students will learn about pointe shoes and how to sew and tie them correctly. Each class will consist of strengthening exercises to prepare the student to safely dance en Pointe.
Pointe classes require the pre-requisite of pre-Pointe, or have extensive experience in Pointe, and at least two ballet classes taken per week. Students must also be a minimum of 12 years of age and in Cecchetti Grade 3.
Our tap classes follow the famous Al Gilbert Graded Tap method. Each level takes at least 2 years to complete. Students will learn to make rhythmic sounds with their feet.
Think STOMP! Cross-rhythms, cannons, syncoptation... dancing with props to tap on, slide, kick... making percussive music with your feet! Tap lovers will not be able to get enough of this class!
Our jazz classes follow the Al Gilbert Jazz Dancing method. Students will learn proper warm-ups, combinations and proper technique in this fun and upbeat class.
Think jazz and hip hop combined - the stuff you see in music videos, commercials, movies, etc. Jazz technique mixed with hip hop choreography makes an exciting class for everyone!
Lyrical / contemporary dancing, is a form of dance which fuses modern, jazz and ballet. The student will learn to be more emotionally aware in their dancing, as they will be 'dancing to the lyrics.' Students must be in at least Cecchetti Grade 2 and enrolled in at least one ballet class and one jazz class.
Hip Hop is an exciting, upbeat form of dance often seen in music videos. Jazz classes are recommended in addition to hip hop to enhance the student's musicality and rhythm. Xtreme DanceWorks is the first and ONLY dance studio in the area to offer a syllabus hip hop program. Our syllabus comes from Australia and teaches proper hip hop technique at appropriate levels.
Breakdancing, also referred to as B-Boying or B-Girling, is a popular style of street dance in the hip hop culture. Learn toprock, downrock, power moves, freezes and more in this exciting class!
Salsa
No partner required!
Salsa is an exciting social dance style that is extremely popular In Latin America, North America, Europe, etc.
Swing
East Coast Swing is an exciting social dance to fast swing music. Come on out and learn this exciting dance style.
This is a fun and exciting class combining broadway-style jazz and tap, expressing emotions in dance, using props in choreography and more! This class is 1.5 hours each week in length.
A combination of dance and floor gymnastics! Learn tricks, improve flexibility and more! This is a great class to add to your dance training.
This class helps improve dancers' strength, flexibility and technique, which are all important aspects of dance.
Our leaps and turns class focuses on just that - leaps and turns! Dancers will learn exciting leaps, turns and tricks that will greatly improve their technique.

Our unique Pop Stars program is for students who are passionate about music and dance and want to be like the next Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber. This program includes all the exciting features that are also in our Xtreme School of Rock program.
Drama & Theatre
Drama classes are fun for all ages! Students will learn different acting techniques and learn how to portray different emotions.
Classes are offered as a group, however, private classes for audition preparation, scene study, etc. are also available.
This exciting program allows students to train in singing, acting and dancing! The time commitment for this program is 4 hours per week. This season Triple Threat Theatre will perform a professional production of Alice in Wonderland!
